Kolkata A day after the state government issued a notification for a CBI probe into the Jnaneswari Express tragedy that left 148 dead, the agency on Wednesday lodged a complaint with Special Crime Branch (SCB) in Kolkata zonal office of CBI.

“We have started our investigation. We will collect all the findings from the CID tomorrow and the arrested suspects will also be shifted in our custody,” a senior CBI official from Delhi said. Sources said after collecting the evidence and the probe details from the CID, the CBI team comprising senior officials from Delhi will visit Sardiha, the place where the Jnaneswari Express was derailed, in a few days. Additional Director General (CID) Raj Kanojia said the CBI officials met him on Wednesday. “Tomorrow, they will collect our findings,” he added.
