Ahmedabad, February 13 The mood of the 66 students of the Armed Forces Management batch at IIM-A is buoyant, for most of them have already got job offers from more than one company even as the official placement programme is yet to commence.

Companies like RPG, IFMR Trust, Torrent Power, Fortis Healthcare and Planet Health have already shown an interest in hiring the members of the armed forces management programmes. The fortnight-long recruitment programme beginning Friday, is likely to see corporate houses like Raymonds, Tatas, Aditya Birla Group, Essar, Reliance Retail, Bharti Airtel, LNJ Bhilwara and Kirloskar Group make a beeline for the institute.

Col Sanjay Srivastava, Placement Coordinator, said that this year, the corporate world’s response has been good, especially in case of lady officers who are much wanted in HR departments. However, the biggest surprise has been that officers with over 20 years of experience have got the jobs first. Srivastava said this shows that the corporate world has recognised the multiple skills these officers have gained during their service with the armed forces.

Out of the 66 officers in the Armed Forces Management programme, 39 belong to the Army, 12 to the Navy and 14 are from the IAF. Twelve lady officers are also part of this programme.
