The director of Horticulture, Maharashtra, P V Firke has welcomed the allocation of Rs 1,100 crore for the National horticulture Mission. “The planning process for NHM is from the bottom. Depending upon the number of projects, the funds are allotted for each state. We will try get maximum money allotted for the state,” said Firke, who said soil-testing laboratories would help improve health of the soil. “Integrated nutrient management will be possible,” he said. The budget provides for Rs 50 lakh per laboratory. There is a one-time allocation of Rs 75 crore to the Ministry of Agriculture for one fully fitted mobile soil testing laboratory for each of the 250 districts of the country.
