Junagadh district admn gears up for board exams, opens 24 student counselling centres

Junagadh The district administration and the education department have geared up for the board examination (for classes 10 and 12) that will be held from March 17. According to official sources, a total of 69,820 students have registered for the examination in Junagadh district. As compared to last year, there has been an increase of 5,500 students this time.

According to V J Shah, district education officer, in Junagadh district, 42,456 students have registered for secondary school certificate examination (class 10) and 27,083 for higher secondary certificate examination (class 12). The figures show an eight per cent increase as compared to last year.

In a significant move, the district administration has started 24 student counselling centres across the district. These will function round the clock with experts doling out advice to the students.

District Collector Aswini Kumar said: “Counselling centres have been started to ease pressure on students before or during the examination period. Education experts have been appointed on all centers to guide students as well as boost their morale.”

Kumar further said that to ensure free and fair examination, the district administration will take all possible steps to maintain the dignity of examinations so that no student may have to face any problem. For the differently-abled students, sitting arrangements have been made on the ground floor of all buildings. Besides, strict action will be taken against those found adopting unfair means during examination, Kumar added.
