Junagadh In an attempt to attract more tourists, the Junagadh district administration is gearing up for the overall development of the Bhavnath Taleti area at the foot of the Girnar Mountain.

The state government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 13 crore for the project, out of which Rs 1 crore has already been released. Besides, a presentation on the development work has been given by district collector Aswini Kumar.

Explaining the project in detail, Kumar said: "The development work will be done on the stretch from Saint Narsinh Mehta circle to Bhavnath Taleti, covering a distance of four km en-route to Girnar Mountain."

The project, which has been designed and prepared by experts, aims to upgrade basic amenities and infrastructure facilities. The district administration has hired the services of a private consultancy firm for the same.

Kumar added that amenities including a traffic island, an information centre, parking area, water hut, telephone booth, restaurants and toilets, will be installed at the Girnar gate, the entrance to the area.

On the mid-way at Damodarkund, the tourists will get to see a picnic point, food kiosks, a playground for children, tourist information centre and public transport facilities.

Finally, Bhavnath Taleti will be connected with four track roads. There will be a separate sitting arrangement at Sudarshan Lake, Kumar said.

Certain suggestions made by Junagadh MLA, Mahendra Mashru, Deputy Mayor of Junagadh Municipal Corporation, Karman Katara and Rajyasabha MP, Suryakant Acharya, will be taken into consideration

Mashru said: "The area will see a boost in tourist inflow once the development project is completed."
