Junagadh Municipal Corporation tables budget for 2009-10

Junagadh The Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC)’s budget for the fiscal year 2009-10 was tabled on Friday by Standing Committee Chairman Bharat Karena. It has proposals worth Rs 107 crore.

No new taxes have been imposed in the budget, and proposals to increase various taxes have been rejected.

The total financial allocations is of Rs 107, 72, 09, 010, which will show a balance of Rs 38, 12, 663 at the end of the fiscal year.

Of every 100 paisa, 45 will come to the JMC from revenue sources and 55 from capital sources. On the expenditure side, 17 paisa will go towards administrative charges, 16 towards revenue related cost and 67 towards capital sources.

The proposals for increase in various taxes, including those on house, water, streetlight, town hall and ambulance rent charges, were forwarded by the municipal commissioner.

All proposals for increasing taxes were unanimously rejected by the Standing Committee.

The new projects included are, accommodating the resurfacing of interior roads in all 17 wards, new water filter plant for the old city area, new water supply project for outgrowth area and newly accommodated areas, and the construction of overhead tanks, water sump and pipelines.

The development of new play grounds and the construction of in-door stadium have also been accommodated, for which financial allotment has been made in the budget.
