Kalam arrives today, to meet the Dalai Lama

Dharamshala Former president A P J Abdul Kalam will be arriving on a two-day visit to the hill state on Friday. This will be his second visit to Himachal Pradesh following his December 2004 tour as President.

During his stay, the former president will visit Kangra and Hamirpur districts. Besides attending a function at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), Hamirpur, Kalam will pay a visit to McLeodganj and meet the Tibetan spiritual leader and temporal head, the Dalai Lama.

Sources said Kalam will reach Kangra airport on Friday and will head to McLeodganj to meet the Dalai Lama.

Next on the agenda will be Hamirpur, where he will take part in the convocation of the National Institute of Information Technology on Saturday morning.

Kalam will interact with students from the NIIT on Friday evening and with schoolchildren on Saturday morning. Kangra Deputy Commissioner K K Pant said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the Kalam’s visit.
