Chandigarh, November 07 A high-level delegation, headed by Punjab Industry Minister Manoranjan Kalia, engaged in one-to-one discussions with H.R. Binod, head of Infosys India business unit, and Chandraketu Jha, head of Infosys commercial unit, both of whom are also on the Infosys Board of Directors.

The Minister was accompanied by Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Dr S.S. Channy; Punjab Infotech Chairman H.S. Grewal and Managing Director, Punjab Infotech, Rakesh Verma. Earlier, Kalia, in his inaugural address at the three-day ICT flagship event held in Bangalore today, said Punjab has come up with a slew of incentives that would help the IT sector’s growth.

He said Punjab had led the Green Revolution when the country needed food security and that it would rise to the occasion again to contribute to the IT sector’s growth in the country.

Highlighting the initiatives, including the 380-acre Knowledge City at Mohali, the new IIT at Ropar and the Industrial Facilitation Act, he invited industry representatives to visit the two proposed project sites - the 100-acre site at Kapurthala for IT projects and the 280-acre site at Ropar for high-end software development projects.

‘Support Obama to fight terrorism’

AMRITSAR: All India Anti Terrorist Front chairman MS Bitta has urged the political parties across the nation to support US president-elect Barack Obama to enable the country to eliminate the terrorist training camps being run in Pakistan. He also sought release of a white paper on various bomb blasts and communal clashes in the country. Addressing mediapersons on Friday, Bitta said Obama’s statement against terrorists training camps being run in Pakistan indicated his resolve to deal with terror organisations with an iron hand. He said the wrongful policies of the government had forced people to take to arms.
