In his speech, Kalmadi thanked the slum-dwellers saying that a major chunk of votes came from them. “It was thanks to your support that I became an MP, which is why, I am giving priority to the development works in slums. I will focus on housing, water supply and other development works for slums,” Kalmadi said.

Meanwhile, he state Congress committee spokesperson Anant Gadgil has issued a press release clarifying that the party is yet to finalise its Lok Sabha candidate. For the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, we have just started holding talks with our political allies about seat sharing. Only after finalising the seat sharing will we decide on our candidate,: says the release.

It further states, “Before appointing a candidate for the polls, Congress has a tradition of appointing a parliamentary board. After that, the party high command takes a decision on that. But the party is yet to start work on that front.”
