Questioning of suspects, their narco-tests, and the study of their phone record has failed to throw up any clue about the suppliers of the explosives or the links of the men who died in the blasts.

“Despite surveillance of dozens of phones, we were unable to find a clue which could help us crack the conspiracy behind storing of explosives at the house,” said Rajiv Krishna, Deputy Inspector General of UP Anti-Terror Squad.

“The extensive investigation has failed to trace even one person related to the two youths,” he said.

Investigation Officer Vipin Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer of Kalyanpur, also echoed Krishna. “The probe could not reach a conclusive end. We could not find a single clue to unravel the case.”

“There is no hope of cracking the case, but it cannot be closed without getting a signal from senior officials,” he added.

Even the call details of Rajiv and Bhupinder did not help the sleuths to unravel the case, as the numbers were not in use for several months.

“The investigation continues on paper. But no development has taken place so far,” said OP Singh, Additional

Superintendent of Police (Crime), Kanpur.

The two Bajrang Dal men — Bhupinder Singh Chopra and Rajiv Mishra — were killed in the blasts on August 24 in a house in Rajiv Nagar.

Rajiv’s father owned the house and used it as a private hostel for the students. The room in which the explosion took place was retained by Rajiv, who worked in Lucknow and visited Kanpur on weekends.
