Mumbai Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab has been remanded in police custody till February 2 in the CST firing case. The crime branch of Mumbai police had booked Kasab, the lone terrorist captured alive after 26/11, in four cases.

Due to security reasons, Metropolitan Magistrate N Shrimangale and Additional Public Prosecutor Eknath Dhamal went to the undisclosed location where Kasab is being kept, for the hearing.

“The police custody was granted after the prosecution argued that the police needed to carry out further investigation in the CST firing case,” said Dhamal later.

“The terrorist has not complained of any torture at the hands of the police after he was taken into police custody on January 4 in another case regarding his involvement with accomplice Ismail Khan in the shootout at the Cama and the Albless Hospitals,” added Dhamal.

Kasab and Khan had attacked Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on November 26 night killing 58 and injuring over 100 people by firing indiscriminately.

The police had booked him in the shootout at Girgaum Chowpatty, the ambush on a police vehicle near Rang Bhavan auditorium in which three senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police (ATS) Hemant Karkare, were killed, the theft of a vehicle at Marine Drive and the shootout at Cama Hospital.

Nearly two months after his arrest, Kasab has not got any legal aid.
