Pune Kenkre Academy, Mumbai, defeated Orissa Eastern Railway 1-0 in the second round match of the Late Surendra Anand football tournament match played at the CAFVD ground on Monday.

Kenkre Academy dominated most of the first half and kept putting constant pressure on the opposition goal. Their one-touch football was a treat to watch. They lost a host of opportunities thanks to some brilliant keeping by the Orissa goalkeeper. They were rewarded for their pressure in the 27th minute when they took the lead through a thunderous strike from just outside the box. Orissa Eastern Railway chances were few and far between in the first half, which ended 1-0.

The second half saw the team from Orissa play some better football. They were moving the ball around well and created many chances to equalise. Their striker found himself in on goal on more than one occasion but failed to put the ball in the net. They had a golden chance to equalise when they won a penalty close to full-time. The Kenkre Academy keeper took down the Orissa player in the box and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. However, the goalkeeper made amends for his mistake and pulled off a stunning save to keep his side in the lead.
