Khaku survives

Mumbai Rahil Khaku escaped to a thrilling 5-4 win over Wasim Motorwala in the opening round of the Atlas 9-ball Pool Tournament at the Islam Gymkhana on Saturday.

Joining Islam Gymkhana’a Khaku in the second round was Chandresh Shah of PJ Hindu Gymkhana who overcame Paresh Wankhede by the same margin in another exciting race-to-five frames tie.

Results (1st round): Deepak Khubchandani bt Manjit Singh 5-0; Raza Merchant bt Tanay Thakur 5-1; Samuel Selven bt Nekta Sanghavi 5-0; Rahil Khakhu bt Wasim Motorwala 5-4; Hasan Badami bt Aakash Khatri 5-1; Chandu Shah bt Paresh Wankhede 5-4; Aditya Agarwal bt Aditi Sanghavi 5-1; Arun Agarwal bt Harish Pahuja 5-2; Akhil Patel bt P. Sawant 5-3.
