Mumbai National junior champion downs fancied opponent Rupesh Shah

Junior National champion Shahbaaz Khan made his mark here as he scalped international Rupesh Shah 4-3 in the best match on Day two of the Rs 3.10 lakh Invitation Snooker Tournament on Thursday. Down 1-3, Shahbaaz staged a great recovery to beat his experienced rival in the Grpup D match.

Aditya Mehta and Brijesh Damani made sure of qualifying from Group C. Aditya ran a break of 62 in his 4-0 win over Nikhil Ootam for his second win. Damani had two wins, beating R Girish and Ootam on the opening day.

Defending champ Manan Chandra was in good touch against Shravan Mohta rattling breaks of 73 and 91 in his 4-0 win. Shravan was playing well giving a few snookers but Manan grabbed every chance he got. In the morning Mohta had beaten Faisal Khan 4-1.

MS Arun, winner of two matches on the opening day, lost the first match of the tournament today. With two wins Arun had already done enough to make it to the next level. Though, things were tough today as he faced veteran Alok Kumar. Arun tried his best but couldn't make much headway. Eventually, Alok won 4-1. With this win the Karnataka player has still a good chance of qualifying.
