Khanna A day after a 68-year-old ex-serviceman was found murdered in Khanna, police arrested his son for the crime on Friday. The accused, Parveen Verma, has confessed to the murder, said police. He will be produced in court on Saturday.

On Wednesday night, the body of Harbans Lal Verma was found in a one-room house in Guru Angad Dev Nagar. Verma’s son Rajinder, who discovered the body, named his younger brother Parveen as the murderer in the FIR.

Khanna Deputy Superintendent of Police Balwinder Singh Randhawa said: “Parveen used a sword to attack his father. Harbans Lal had bailed Parveen out of a property dispute by buying his (Parveen’s) house. But Parveen did not want to get the house registered in Lal’s name.”

The sword used in the crime has not been recovered as yet.
