The farming community in Hargana and Seh villages of Khanna might get a breather from the crippling powercuts in the area, thanks to the intervention of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal. Atwal, who has been nominated by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections from the newly-constituted Fatehgarh Sahib (Reserved) constituency, called an urgent meeting of the members and officials of the municipal committee and senior officials of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) to remove the technical hurdles coming in the way of completion of the 66 KVA grid station in Hargana and 132 KVA grid station in Seh.
The deputy speaker was informed that work on the two grid stations had been started a long time ago but because of certain technical and legal hitches, the completion of the projects had been lingering on indefinitely.
Atwal claimed that a team comprising MC and PSEB officials will co-ordinate and the work would be finished at the earliest.
