Mumbai The legal battle between UTV Software Communications Private Limited, producers of the film Khosla Ka Ghosla and Tandav Films Entertainment Private Limited has taken another turn. Directors of Tandav Films, Savita and Raj Hiremath, have been summonsed by an Andheri magistrate court in a criminal defamation case filed by UTV against them.

The criminal defamation case filed by UTV against the Hiremaths stated that they had posted defaming content about UTV on a blog on the internet. UTV defence counsel Pervez Menon and Zulfi Menon of MZM Legal Associates argued that the content was posted by the Hiremaths with a view of lowering the public image of the company thereby defaming the company’s reputation and long standing in the industry. Parvez said that the Hiremaths have been directed to appear in court on May 5.

A civil suit is also pending against UTV, filed by Tandav at a Delhi court over a music score used by UTV in the Tamil version of the film Khosla Ka Ghosla.

In the civil suit, the company has claimed that UTV had not taken the rights of the musical score used in the Tamil version. UTV had produced Khosla Ka Ghosla in Hindi in 2007 and made the Tamil version in 2008.
