Chandigarh, February 4 A Close aide and ‘friend’ of Dr. Amit Kumar, the prime accused in the international kidney racket, Bulbul Kataria alias Shalu Kataria was let off by the investigating agencies in Gurgaon, after interrogating her for over 24 hours.

Bulbul, who hails from Chandigarh, has a flat in Sector-45 near Burail village, where her mother, three sisters and a brother live. While one of her younger sisters works as an airhostess with an International Airlines, the others are into modeling and private jobs.

Bulbul did her schooling and completed her graduation from Chandigarh. After working with a multi-national bank, she moved to Mumbai and then to New Delhi where she worked as a financial consultant in another bank.

“Bulbul had nothing much to do with Dr. Amit as he was just one of her clients. He never came to Chandigarh. In fact, Bulbul’s name was unnecessarily dragged into the entire controversy. Rather than appreciating my daughter’s courage, with which she unveiled the truth and facts about Dr. Amit, the investigating agencies and media had been unnecessarily harassing her mentally,” said her mother.

“There are certain people, who are jealous of my daughter’s success, because of which they plant such controversies. She was never arrested for any crime, but the police just took her along from the news channel’s office for recording her statement regarding Dr. Amit. I don’t know if he ever accompanied Bulbul to Chandigarh, from where he fled away to Canada via Nepal,” added Bulbul’s mother.

Bulbul’s old friends, with whom she used to frequent city’s discotheques and pubs, said that she was a bold girl and had a fascination of becoming rich and famous.

“She had quite high aims, right from her childhood. Hailing from a middle-class family, she always wanted to be in the company of rich and famous. A prominent figure in the city’s party circles, Bulbul could be seen in any of the most-happening parties of the city, till the time she stayed in Chandigarh, before moving out of the city a few years ago”, one of her close friends confided.
