King Khan to grace football tournament

Pune, February 25 The inaugural function will witness the king of Bollywood kick off the event in style in presence of the president of the Indian Olympic association Suresh Kalmadi, Joaquim Alemao, president Goa Football Association, The Founder President of Bharati Vidyapeeth and minister for Cooperation, Relief and rehabilitation Dr. Patangrao Kadam, and Ashok Tanwar President of Youth Congress will be present on the occasion. The first match of the tournament between Thundercatz A and City Club will follow this.

"The tournament jointly organized by the Abhijit Kadam Memorial Foundation (AKMF) and Deccan XI football club and sponsored by Reliance Industries will witness Bollywood stars MP Govinda, Sunil Shetty , Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, and other Bollywood biggies descend on the field to take on Pune XI comprising of Dhanraj Pillay , Vishwas Nangre Patil , Anil Diggikar and others on March 4," said Mr. Vishwajit Kadam, the managing trustee of the foundation and the organizer of the event.

Entry to the charity match is by tickets that are being sold, said Kadam, who is also president of the Poona District Football Association. (PDFA). He added that the collections from the same which is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh will be given away in charity to three NGO's-- Prism Foundation, Sweekar and the Cancer Patients Aid Association. "The Khan Family has also decided to support the event in their own way", he added. "In keeping with our plans to promote soccer in the city, we also plan to bring international players and officials to be guest of honors along with glamorous stars from Bollywood," said 2007 AIFF Footballer of the year Sunil Chetri.

Ajit Pawar, Guardian Minister, Pune, will also grace the occasion that will have Priyaranjan Das Munshi, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs along with Keith Wynus, CEO, Everton Football Club as be chief guests at the closing function, while film stars John Abraham and Nana Patekar and State Minister, Harshavardhan Patil will be prominent among those present for the prize distribution.
