Kite flying turns ugly, 2 fired at in old city

Ludhiana Two brothers got critically injured when they were shot at by a few of their neighbours in the Old Bazar area of the old city, here on Monday evening. The brawl occurred over the issue of kite flying. The injured, Tarun (29) and Keshav (27), have been admitted in the CMC Hospital.

The incident occurred this evening around 4.30 pm when Tarun and Keshav were flying kites on the roof top of their house.

In the neighbourhood, some other youths were also flying kites. When the string of a kite was cut, a heated argument broke out between both the groups. It took an ugly turn and the accused called their supporters, who also brought a pistol.

It a fit of rage, the accused fired at the victims. While Tarun was hit in the stomach, Kesha was hit in his ribcage and on one of his hands.

After the incident, the assailants fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, Division Number 4 SHO Darshan Singh said, “We are looking into the matter and recording the statements of the eyewitnesses. Once the injured youths are operated upon and declared fit to make statements to the police, we will register an FIR against the culprits.”
