New Delhi ‘Know your Delhi’ first — is the message of the Delhi Police for the new recruits joining the force from other states. To make the newly-inducted policemen well-versed with the ways of the Capital, Delhi Police has introduced a special course ‘Know your Delhi’ in their training.

“The course, which carries a test of 50 marks, will help them to understand and serve Delhi in a better way,” Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal told reporters on Tuesday.

The course, which helps the new cops understand prime landmarks and localities, has been made a compulsory subject in the Police Training Colleges. “We have a police force of around 62,500. Within 10-12 months, the strength will be around 75,000,” he said.

No Mangalore in Capital: Dadwal
In his second fortnightly interaction with the Press, Y S Dadwal talked about the usual steps his force is taking to protect the senior citizens and improve the traffic scenario.

In the wake of Mangalore pub attack last month, Dadwal said no such incident would be allowed in the Capital and that people who create a ruckus on Valentine Day would be strictly dealt with. “Incidents like Mangalore will not allowed and tolerated in the Capital. And we assure strict action against those who create any ‘drama’ on Valentine Day,” he said. He said strict action would be taken against the policemen who had registered a case against a couple for kissing in public.
