The affidavit also added that the police were vigilant during the December 20 rally and tried to follow the Calcutta High Court’s order in this regard. The case will come for hearing on February 9.
During the hearing on January 28, the High Court had asked the Kolkata police to file an affidavit on the rally within seven days.
Earlier, on December 22 last year, environmentalist Subhas Dutta had informed the High Court that the court’s directives related to rallies were violated during the DYFI rally at the ground.
Meanwhile, Left Front chairman Biman Bose on Friday directed the Left parties not to make open ovens for cooking during the Front’s forthcoming rally on February 8. Bose also announced that the vehicles will be parked at least three kilometers from the ground in compliance with a 2007 High Court order.
