One Ramnaresh Kewat, a resident of Bagdana village in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district, identified six bodies as that of his wife, son, his maternal uncle, aunt and their two children.
Kewat said, “My family members alighted the train with my uncle and aunt at Udhna and suddenly the
train started moving. We (Kewat and his daughter) could not get down. We alighted the train at Surat. Two youths from the same train helped me in my search for my family members, but we could not locate them at the Udhna Railway Station.” On Tuesday, he came to know about the accident. This evening, Kewat contacted the Surat Railway police and told them that his family members and relatives were missing since the day of the mishap.
The police then took him to the SMIMER hospital, where the bodies were kept. He identified the bodies on the basis of clothes they had worn and other identification marks.
The deceased were identified as Sunny Ramnaresh Kewat (7 months), Sipata Ramnaresh Kewat (25), Bifai Kewat (30), his wife Roshi Kewat (25), their children Anil Kewat (8) and Soniya Kewat (3), all residents of Bagdana.
Another man Purshottam Kewat came to Surat from Chitrakut district of Uttar Pradesh in search of his brother after he learnt about the
incident. He identified a body as that of 15-year-old Ramkaran Kewat.
