Ludhiana Activists of the Punjab Navnirwan Mazdoor Union staged a dharna outside the SSP’s office on Wednesday. They alleged that the police was not taking any action against the miscreants who had beaten up a migrant labourer’s family at Kehar Singh Nagar in Haibowal Kalan. In this regard, one Renu Rani, a victim of the incident, had filed a complaint at the SSP’s office.

In her complaint, Rani alleged that few days ago, nearly a dozen armed persons barged in her house and beat up her entire family. She added that when their neighbours came to their rescue, the assailants fled away. She later realised that some ornaments and a cell phone were missing. She said that though a PCR team had recorded their statement, but no action had been taken against the assailants till yet. The dharna was later lifted after an assurance from the SSP.
