The final day of Fundamental ‘09 the annual fest of SID was a bucket full of bittersweet memories with a number of performances dedicated to the seniors by the juniors

The three-day long annual festival of the Symbiosis Institute of Design, came to a picturesque end on Saturday with awards being given to not only the winners of the various events but also to the students of the college who had excelled in different fields.

The day began on a festive note as the Institute bagged the top prizes in all the three different cultural events namely the fashion show (MODA), the battle of the bands (Plug 'n Play), and also the dance festival (Moovit). Aptly titled 'Sampla' (or 'Finished') the last day also saw performances by the juniors. Notable amongst these were performances staged by students of the third year for the final year students and those of the fourth year students who portrayed their memories in college via a mélange of dances choreographed from popular film numbers.

The Superb awards, which are a part of in-house award ceremony, were given out. Speaking more about the awards, one of the winners Harshit Desai, a fourth year animation student said, "The awards stand for the six basic fundamentals of design that we learn in the first year, namely Simplicity, Unity, Proportion, Emphasis, Rhythm and Balance. The awards are given for each category to either one or a group of students from all the four years."

The students of the third year batch also staged a play-cum-dance programme for the audience that proved to be a witty mix of old fairy tales interspersed with dances from Hindi films. Speaking more about the event another fourth year graphic design student, Hamsa Ganesh said, " The three days of the event have been titled Extreme Compression, Extreme Expansion and Sampla. The The final day was basically a culmination of the three – day event showcasing all the hard work that has been put in to organising it."

Adding to the cheer was the announcement of deputy director of the institute, Aniruddha Natu who declared the event to be a bigger one stretching for more number of days with a bigger budget.
