Officials said the move will benefit both the LDA and the allottees, who spend a lot of their time and money in pursuing their cases.
In connection with this, a pre-trial meeting was held in the Gomti Nagar office of the LDA on Friday in which over 26 litigants appeared and listed their cases for the Lok Adalat.
“There are over 2,500 cases related with LDA properties pending in various courts. Maximum cases are pending in consumer forums. These cases are pending from several years and it is costing both time and money for allottees as well as LDA. If cases were settled out of court, it will benefit both parties,” LDA Vice-Chairman Mukesh Kumar Meshram said.
In various cases, allottees were not able to use their properties because they were pending in court. He said directions have been issued to the legal advisor as well as law section in-charge to list the cases for Lok Adalat if any person wants to settle the cases through talks.
According to Meshram, the LDA will propose litigants to agree on certain points so that neither they nor the LDA suffers and that the cases get disposed off.
Another official in Law section said, “Mainly ordinary cases of compounding interest on dues, compensations and allotment will be discussed in Lok Adalat.”
Official said that in the event of the cases being settled, both parties will file an application in the court, where the case was pending, to seek cancellation of litigation.
“This is not first time when Lok Adalat is being organised by the LDA. In 2002, a similar exercise was done for the first time and then over 60 cases were settled. Since then no such practice has been held here because the officials did not cared for it,” said another official.
Meshram said that if this time the Lok Adalat becomes successful, the practice will be continued.
