Allotment letter and lease papers of properties will also be provided on the website. All that an applicant needs to do is to give their details on an OMR sheet. This is being done on the recommendations by a nine-member technical committee constituted to study the existing working system in LDA. “The idea is to simplify the functioning and disseminate maximum information to the allottee,” said Rahul Singh, Officer on Special Duty, LDA.

“Such reforms are usually done in the private sector. It will be the first time any government department has analysed its working system and the problems faced by the public,” said Singh.

“Officials have accepted the recommendation of introducing registration form on OMR sheets and provide details regarding allotment and dues through SMSs,” said a member of the committee. “It will be mandatory for an allottee to provide the details like mobile number and e-mail address on the OMR application sheet,” he added. Directions have already been issued to prepare the software required to implement the recommendations. “If an allottee applies for registration on an OMR sheet, the possibility of data entry errors is limited compared to manual data entry. It will also save time and reduce paperwork,” said another official.

With the help of the OMR sheet number, allottees will be able to access their allotment letter on the LDA website. The allotment letter will also have details like location of the property and its lease plan, so one can calculate the location charges and registry fees themselves, said an official. The hard copy of the allotment letter will be sent to the concerned allottee through registered post.
