Chandigarh To impart value-based education, a series of lectures on ‘Teachings of Srimad Bhagvad Gita’ started at the seminar hall of the GGDSD College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh, on Monday.

A Sanskrit lecturer in the college, Dr Saroj Bhanot, spoke about the key aspects and moral values propounded in the Gita.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Sunila Sharma, a lecturer in the Hindi department of the college.

Sharma told the audience about the relevance of such lectures in the present context. The idea of the lecture was the brainchild of Dr A C Vaid, the college principal.

During the talk, Dr Bhanot discussed how Lord Krishna, by means of Arjun, teaches the world the lesson of achieving a state of permanent peace (nitya sukh).

She also threw light on the critical aspects of the theory of karma.

The talk was interspersed with interesting anecdotes and other parallel examples, through which Dr Saroj Bhanot laid bare before all the nuggets of knowledge that Bhagvad Gita offers.
