These are the common complaints of the consumer, which have now been taken up by the Legal Metrology Department on a war footing.
Constant drives and surprise checks on vendors violating these rules under the Standard of Weights and Measures Act 1976 have been planned out for the Pune district from February onwards on food malls and multiplexes in the district.
Recently, the department, had conducted raids on 17 food malls and shops along e-way for such rampant violations.
Deputy controller of Legal Metrology, Pune C G Jadhav said there were many complaints regarding the same and extensive drives would be carried out from next month.
“We will draw out plans to conduct surprise checks. Consumers are requested to get in touch with us and let us know their problems,” he added.
The raids conducted saw the prices of mineral water being raised by these vendors as well as food items which were being sold more than the actual MRP.
“These drives will be regular as in the coming months there will cold drinks being sold for a higher price. We want to monitor the same,” he said.
Necessary alerts will be given to all the inspectors for these drives, he added. With a target of Rs 5.45 crore, the department has already collected Rs 3 lakh fine from the vendors. “We have conducted 25,412 visits since April and have booked 4,292 cases and with these drives we will be more aggressive,” he added.
