New Delhi, December 31 The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to see eye to eye with residents’ views that construction work of Delhi Metro was affecting their everyday life. “Let the Metro work go in full swing,” a Bench comprising Justices H R Malhotra and P K Bhasin observed.

The High Court Bench declined to pass any orders, and posted the matter to be heard next on January 2.

The court, which is a Vacation Bench, said it was not proper to hear the matter as it was already partly heard by a regular court. “Passing any order by this Bench on a part-heard matter may not be appropriate.”

The Bench was hearing two separate petitions filed by East End Apartment Co-operative Society of east Delhi and Greater Kailash Resident Welfare Association of south Delhi. The resident associations contended that demolition work had started during the court’s vacation period and it was creating lot of problems for them.

The GK RWA alleged that DMRC’s hasty work had disrupted water supply in the colony. “The action of DMRC has caused irreparable damage, injury and irreversible loss to the citizens and recently, the water supply to several parts of South Delhi was affected,” the petitioner society’s counsel, A S Chandhiok, argued.
