Pune Prof Meher Master-Moss, president, Zoroastrian College, Mumbai, has urged a group of scholars to invest time and energy in spiritual insights to develop society. She was inaugurating the international conference on "Neuroscientific revolution, the human soul and spirituality" at Holiday Resort Avion, Lonavla on Thursday.

She hoped that scholars will take the spiritual insights seriously and help the society cope with the larger issues of poverty, injustice, greed and corruption.

Dr Umesh Keskar, registar, Tilak Maharashtra University, who was the guest of honour noted that the vedic society cared for the welfare of the whole person. “While respecting the vedic religion, we need to reinterpret it to take care of the modern sensibilities." He hoped that the conference will provide new insights to relate spirituality to science "meaningfully, critically and creatively."

Prof Job Kozhamthadam, founder director of Indian Institute of Science and Religion, Pune, the main organizer of the conference, said that it is the 8th such conference between science and religion where more than 150 scientists, scholars, philosophers and theologians gather together to critique each other with the spirit of humility and openness. He gave the keynote address "Human soul in the world of science: The Neuroscientific revolution and the problem of the soul."
