New Delhi The Commonwealth organising committee finally has reason to cheer following all the embarrassment caused by the Commonwealth Games Federation president’s reprimanding letter and a public spat with Mike Hooper. Queen Elizabeth and Mike Fennell have now sent across a congratulatory letter appreciating the launch of the Queen’s Baton Relay in London.

In her letter, the Queen thanked the Commonwealth Games organising committee, Delhi, for its support in making the launch of the Queen’s Baton Relay a memorable occasion. “It was both a colourful and impressive event and I know that it was enjoyed by all who took part,” the Queen’s office said.

Fennell also congratulated Suresh Kalmadi and his team for the excellent launch of the Queen’s Baton Relay at Buckingham Palace. “It was certainly a good start to the countdown to October 2010 and I think it left a very good impression on all who attended, and those who watched the ceremony on television,” he wrote.

In the past week, the baton has travelled through England covering Manchester, Birmingham and London.
