Panchkula Four -year-old Yashan had been preparing to play the role of a Bengali at his school annual function. Fate, however, had something else in store for him.

The nursery student of Woodland House School in Sector 8 was killed along with his financier father. As the news of the deaths broke, Yashan’s inconsolable mother Sushma couldn’t help but regret allowing him to accompany his father to Baltana.

“If I had not allowed him, at least he could have been saved. The laxity on part of the police killed my family. Tell them to either get my family back or kill me as well. Yashan always wanted me around him, how will I live without him,” cried Sushma.

“Life is all over for me now. That night Yashan told me he would come back soon. Look what has happened now, he will never come back to me,” Sushma moaned refusing to believe that the two members “of her world” would never be with her again.

Sushma has two sisters and two brothers, who live in Delhi.

“I kept asking the police to detain Shilpa, Raju’s wife. No one paid any heed. Had the police arrested Shilpa and their daughter, Raju would have never killed my family. Instead, the police kept fighting over the jurisdiction of the case,” said Sushma.

The family members said she had met nearly all soothsayers in the area to know about the well-being of the two and pray for their safety. Sometimes, however, fate believes in handing a rough deal.
