Liquor vends auctioned in Gurgaon

Chandigarh The Haryana government auctioned 164 English and 137 countrymade liquor vends through tender bids in Gurgaon district. It earned them a revenue of Rs 63.56 crore more from the English liquor vends as compared to last year.

The license fee fixed by the government was 109.38 crore and it earned a total of Rs 172.94 crore.

The auction was organised at the John hall with tight security arrangements. Deputy Commissioner Deepti Umashankar and other senior officers of the district administration were present at the auction.

A liquor shop in Gallaria attracted the highest bid of Rs 3.69 crore.

In a first, Schedule Caste and Backward Class (A) were given reservation at the auction. As many as 16 English liquor vends were reserved for SC and 8 for BC (A), 13 country made liquor vends for SC and 6 for BC (A).

Every precaution has been taken to ensure that no vends are opened in parks and forest reserve areas. A committee was formed comprising Administrator HUDA, SDM and forest officer to finalise the sites for the vends.
