At the same time, it is a straight contest between Capt Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal in Punjab, he added.
Addressing a series of public rallies in different villages of Kila Raipur assembly segment, namely Jartoli, Mehmasinghwala, Narangwal, Lohgarh and Assi Kallan, along with local MLA Jassi Khangura, Tewari drew attention to the progress the country had made under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh.
The AICC spokesperson said, “The choice is yours, on the one hand you have a visionary leader like Manmohan Singh whose economic skills have been acknowledged by the entire world and on the other you have Lal Krishna Advani supported by the Akalis, who has nothing to his credit except demolitions and destructions.”
Moreover, Tewari also pointed out that Manmohan Singh is a son of the soil who has made all Punjabis proud.
“Not only the Punjabis, but the entire country feels proud of his leadership,” he said, while adding, that now was the time for residents of the state to acknowledge his efforts and support him for another term.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Jassi Khangura rapped the Akalis saying that they had opposed a Sikh prime minister in Parliament.
“The Akalis are the same people who claim to be the guardians of the panth, but when it came to supporting a Sikh prime mininister, they backed out,” he said.
Khangura appealed to the people to support Congress party as the ruling coalition in the state had failed to provide good governance.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Parminder Singh Latala, Avtar Singh Latala, Manmohan Singh and others.
