LLPA to hold seminar on recession

Pune The seminar will discuss the legal aspect and the provisions regarding lay off, retrenchment, standing order etc

The Labour Law Practitioners Association (LLPA) of Pune will hold a seminar on the 'role of industrial law in the present recession in India' in the third week of February.

LLPA is an Association of Labour Law Practitioners' at Pune functioning in the field of Industrial and Labour Law for last than 30 years. This body represents both the sides of the Industry, Employers and Employees and will debate on the recent ongoing industrial recession and especially the role of Industrial Law, said a press release.

"We are not going to debate only on talking on two sides on the industry but we will focus on present situation, the impact of recession on the industries, facts and figures. We will also discuss the legal aspect and the provisions regarding lay off, retrenchment, standing order etc," the note said.

The seminar is expected to be of use to lawyers, Labour Law practitioner's, HR and IR executives, corporate legal heads and trade union activists. Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court, Swatanterkumar is expected to be the chief guest. Others including S N Ambardekar, plant head of Tata Motors Ltd, Pune who will enlight the audience on the effect of recent ongoing industrial relation in automobile industry. A. K. Gupte will speak on technical issues of stoppage of work and the provisions under the Standing Orders. CU Singh senior counsel of Mumbai High Court will deliberate on the various Supreme Court and High Court Judgements in respect of Lay off and Retrenchment.

RM Nirmal Advocate will explain the procedural aspect in respect of permission to be taken from the Government in case of Lay off and Retrenchment.

One of the Senior Government Officers from Labour Department will inform the approach of the Government in the present scenario. R. B. Sharmale Advocate and Senior Trade Union Leader will clarify the approach of the workers and unions to come out of the recession. K. S. Bapat Senior Advocate Mumbai High Court has agreed to precide over the sessions.
