Ahmedabad, March 2 The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will organise Lok Darbars on March 5 and 7 for settling pending tax disputes in the central zone wards.

AMC officials said that on March 5, it would be held at the old octroi office building near the Kalupur Gate from 11 am to 2 pm, while the one scheduled for March 7 would be held at Kalupur Municipal School Number One on Relief Road near the Rupam Cinema hall. The timings will remain the same, they said.

According to the corporation, the main motive behind organising the Lok Darbars is to enable people to remove confusion over their pending tax bills accumulated over long periods, and at the same time, help the civic body ensure an expeditious recovery of the same.

At present, the AMC has asked tax defaulters to apply by March 3 on a prescribed format available at city civic centres. If the applicants are unable to go to the centres, they will be required to come to the Lok Darbar venue with the latest tax bills and necessary documents to support their claim at the time of settlement.

Original documents will have to be brought along with the tax bill for verification of claims, the AMC has said. While the March 5 Lok Darbar will cover wards of Shahibaug, Madhupura and Shahpur, the one on March 7 will cover claims coming from Khadia, Raikhad and Kalupur wards, it said.
