The existing unit in Secunderabad will be developed as the head office in India.
The institute will help in developing latest techniques of signalling. It will help in smooth running of trains and minimising signal failures and related problems, said S Goswami, chief PRO, Eastern Railway.
The organisation promises to provide an opportunity for experts in the field of signalling engineering to cultivate their knowledge and share their expertise among other chapters of IRSE in 55 countries.
The institute works for the betterment of public safety by adopting advance signalling techniques through research, publication of educational materials and holding seminars. It helps more than 4,200 members from all over to discuss the problems faced by the rail industry.
According to the officials of the IRSE, the president and the chief executive officer of the institute will be coming to India on February 14.
More than 200 officials of the Indian Railways have applied for membership. The institute also issues licence of signalling engineering. The licence issued by the institute is accepted as the benchmark of competence and would provide opportunity to its members to work in other countries.
