Special Out Patient Department (OPDs) are held every Tuesday and Wednesday where doctors from specialities like endocrinology and cardiology attend to the patients' ailments. There are nearly 500 people at any given time during the OPD, say doctors. The OPD that starts at 12 noon has people lined up outside the doctor's cabin from early hours of the morning.

While patients come from various areas of the district and surrounding places, it is after a long wait that they get their turn in the queue to be examined. According to Rama Shinde (name changed) from Solapur, the queue stretched outside the OPD as there were only two pharmacists administering drugs for treatment of diabetes.

Patients were subjected to a prolonged waiting period and it was only in the late afternoon hours that the Sassoon officials could pacify the agitated lot. When contacted Dr Nirmala Borade, Dean, B J Medical College and Sassoon hospital admitted that there were six posts of pharmacists at the OPD.
