Lucknow, January 19 The police probing the murder of a local builder, Dileep Ahuja, now suspect that a failed love relationship between the deceased and a girl in his locality could be a possible motive.

On Thursday night, two assailants on motorcycles pumped six bullets in Ahuja’s body in LDA Colony in the Krishna Nagar area of the city. Ahuja was declared brought dead when the residents of the area rushed him to the CSMMU’s trauma centre.

The investigating team has already questioned the girl and her family members twice, and is banking on the call details of Dileep’s cellphone.

Four persons have also been detained for questioning. The police are of the opinion that the modus operandi of the assailants suggested that they were contract killers.

“We are presently screening the call details of Ahuja’s cellphone and hope to get some clue,” said the Circle Officer of Alambagh, Manish Kumar Mishra.

“It could be possible that the murder might have been executed due to some failed love affair kind of situation. We are probing the case from that angle also”, said a senior police officer.

He also said the investigating team has not come across any evidence to suggest that a property dispute could have been the reason behind the murder.

“We are not considering the property dispute as a possible motive because Dileep sold just two properties since he entered the business four years ago. All the deals were finalised in a clear manner,” said Inspector Bhan Singh of Krishna Nagar Police Station.

Dileep’s family members claimed that they had no enemies, he added.
