Love affair leads to murder, two nabbed

Pune Enraged at his lover’s insistance that he marry her, a man strangulated 22-year-old Priti Pawar, a resident of Ganjpeth.

Police officials said that Priti was missing from her house since February 21, following which, her family lodged a missing complaint with the Vishrambaug police station.

Investigations revealed that her boyfriend Vinayak Bhalerao (35) allegedly murdered her at Raja Ram Bridge near Karve Road. Vinayak along with his friend Hemant Raghunath Gandhi (38) allegedly strangulated Priti, after which the duo traveled to Belgaum in Karnataka and disposed of Priti's body.

Police inspector Ram Jadhav said that Vinayak, a private contractor with the Pune Municipal Corporation was having an affair with Priti for the past three-and-a-half years. Priti used to insist that Vinayak marry her but he refused. Vinayak hatched a plan along with his friend to kill Priti.

The Belgaum police recovered the body some days later. During investigations it was revealed that body is of Priti Pawar from Pune. After which the police officials of Belgaum and Pune started investigating the case.

During investigations the police came to know about the involvement of Vinayak and Hemant in the case.
