Speaking at a rally in Singur on Saturday evening, Banerjee said the police would not be able to guard the acquired land indefinitely. “If the state government does not return the acquired land within seven days to farmers who had to part with their property unwillingly, I will revive the agitation at Singur.”
Banerjee, who was blamed by the Tata group chairman Ratan Tata for being forced to pull out the Nano project from Singur, alleged that instead of the Nano factory, five-star hotels, malls and markets would have come up at Singur and farmers’ woes would have remained as they are.
The Trinamool chief directed the party-controlled panchayat to draw up a map with details of the land of farmers who unwillingly parted with it for the Nano project.
