LSJA defeats Rashtriya Sahara to reach final

Lucknow, March 4 Lucknow Sports Journalists’ Association (LSJA) team defeated Rashtriya Sahara by 24 runs in their semi-final match to secure a berth in the final of the First Sahara Cup Media Cricket Tournament at the LDA Stadium, here.

Batting first after winning the toss, LSJA XI scored 140 runs losing all its wickets in 24.4 overs in the 25 overs-aside match. Harinder Sahani (46), Sukant Banerjee (25) and Nishith Kumar (24) were the main run-getters. On behalf of Rashtriya Sahara, off-spinner Dharmendra Srivastava bowled well and claimed five wickets giving away 30 runs in his five over spell. Jai Shanker Tilak took two wickets while Anurag Shukla, Ambika Bajpai and Vijay Singh claimed apiece each.

In reply, Rashtriya Sahara could muster 116 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted number of overs. Anurag Shukla (31 not out) was the main contributer to the team total. Deepak Taneja took three wickets while Ganesh claimed two wickets. Vishal Mishra and SB Tripathi took one wicket each.
