Washington, June 5: Hindu groups in US, who are protesting against the release of Hollywood comedy The Love Guru, got a shot in their arm on Thursday when the largest spiritual website Beliefnet agreed to post their viewpoints while carrying promotion articles of the movie.

Hindu groups had earlier asked Beliefnet to stop promoting the movie, which "lampoons their religion and beliefs". The film allegedly portrays 'guru' (teacher) , who is sacred and associated with the divine as per the religious beliefs, in a bad light.

"We hope that by featuring this opinion alongside others, our readers can be better informed about the issues you are raising and decide for themselves what to believe and how to act in this case," said Michael Kress, Managing Editor of Beliefnet in a communique to the Hindu groups.

Meanwhile Bhavna Shinde, who represents the groups asked Beliefnet, which is part of the Fox Entertainment, to stop promoting the movie till its distributor Paramount make necessary changes, she said in a statement.

The Love Guru, a comedy starring Mike Myers of Austin Powers fame is set to be released on June 20. The main character in the film is raised in an 'ashram' in India and then moves back to US as 'Guru Pitka' to seek fame and fortune.
