LU student jumps in Gomti, dies

A post-graduate student of Lucknow University committed suicide by jumping in Gomti near Chowk on Tuesday.

Divers present at the spot noticed Shradhha Saxena (22) moving towards the river.

When they found her struggling in the water, they jumped to save her but it was too late, police said.

They rushed her to the CSMMU Trauma Centre where she was declared dead on arrival.

The girl’s family said Shradhha was pursuing her MSc from the Lucknow University and was upset for the last few days, as she had not performed satisfactory in her third semester exams.

The girl’s father K K Saxena is a cashier with the Gramin Bank in Hardoi and resident of Baba Hazarabagh locality in Thakurganj area.
