Ludhiana, January 2 The appointment of Mukesh Kumar by CM Parkash Singh Badal came with a promise that the city has been given the most “honest” tehsildar to handle the post of sub-registrar. Just a few months later, Mukesh Kumar’s responsibilities are being virtually reduced to half with the appointment of another tehsildar.

The two will handle Ludhiana east and west on a rotation basis for 15 days each.

Acting president SAD(B) Sukhbir Badal announced this during a meeting with a deputation of Ludhiana property dealers association.

The meeting was to discuss the revision of the hike in land registry rates. Mukesh Kumar, however, said he did not know about the development. Badal junior has also said that land registry rates, which were hiked by 100 to 300 per cent from September 1, will not be hiked by more than 50 per cent. The revised list, he said will come into force by January 15. This was confirmed by the association’s general secretary Satinderpal Singh Saluja as well as a senior SAD leader.

Mukesh Kumar was appointed Ludhiana Sub-Registrar in mid-2007.

The state government had given him the most honest officer award.
