Madan, Jyoti claim singles titles

Chandigarh, February 2 Madan Lal Mirdha of Rajasthan claimed the boys’ above 19 years singles title after outplaying Inder Pal Singh of Punjab in the final on the opening day of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial National Table Soccer Championship being played at the Banyan Tree School, Sector 48, here today.

In the boys’ above 19 years doubles final, the duo of Bhushan Diwani and Amaya Pai scored a 5-3 win over Sukhmanveer and Satinder Singh of Punjab to lift the title. Ashish gaur of Delhi prevailed over Gurkaran Singh of Punjab 5-3 in the final of the boys’ under-14 singles while Jyoti Kaushal of Chandigarh outplayed Sheetal of Haryana 5-3 in the girls’ under-19 singles final. In the same category, Sheetal of Haryana came third. In the girls’ under-10 singles final, Sonali of Delhi outplayed Nidhi Sharma of Himachal Pradesh by 5-3.

In the girls’ under-12 doubles final, the duo of Tarandeep Kaur of Chandigarh and Pamul Preet Kaur of Punjab defeated Kamaljeet Siroya and Shweta pawar of Rajasthan 5-1 to win the title. The duo of Krishna Chaudhary and Mayasua Khan finished third. In the girls’ under-14 category, Shrishti of Haryana outclassed Anjali Bhatia of Delhi with a 5-2 verdict in the final.

In the boys’ under-8 doubles category, the duo of Shardue and Anuj Sood of Maharashtra defeated Kunal and Kalpish of Punjab to win the title while the duo of Rampri and Ashradeep from Haryana finished third. In the boys’ under-12 singles category, Atul Pandey of Chandigarh prevailed over Shubham of Himachal Pradesh 5-1 to claim the title while in the under-12 doubles final, the duo of Dalwinder Singh and Gaganpreet Singh of Punjab outplayed Sukhwant Singh and Gurwinder Singh of Punjab with a 5-2 win. The duo of Arshdeep Singh and Manjinder Singh from Chandigarh came third. In the boys’ under-14 doubles category, the duo of Jaspreet Singh and Ashish Pathak of Punjab defeated Hardayal Singh and Dharminder Singh of Punjab 5-4 in a closely fought final. The duo of Gagandeep Singh and Shahzeb hussain of Haryana came third. In the boys’ under-17 category, Simranjit Singh of Punjab got past Lakshay of Haryana with a 5-4 win. Shourya of Chandigarh came third. In the boys under-17 doubles category, the duo of Vijay Kapur and Komaldeep Singh of Punjab defeated Gurvail Singh and Harpreet Singh of Punjab 5-1 while Narinder Singh and Navinder Singh of Delhi came third. In the boys’ above 19 years doubles category, the duo of Bhushan Diwani and Amaya Pai of Maharashtra defeated Sukhmanveer and Satinder Singh of Punjab 5-3 in the final while Sagar Budhiraja and Jim Blessing came third.

Earlier, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, Minister of State for Finance, Government of India, inaugurated the three-day National meet. Table Soccer Federation of India chairman Ravinder Talwar, president Balwinder Singh Johal and secretary Yadwinder Singh and BTS vice-principal Jyoti Asija welcomed the chief guest.
