Lucknow, March 4 Slain poet Madhumita Shukla’s sister Nidhi Shukla has requested Governor T V Rajeswar to disqualify MLA Amar Mani Tripathi, who was convicted for the murder of Madhumita by a Dehra Dun court last year. Shukla, along with her brother Vijay, met the Governor on Tuesday morning.

Tripathi represents Laxmipur constituency in

Maharajganj in the Assembly. On Monday, he was brought to the Lucknow District Jail from the Varanasi Jail.

In her application to the Governor, Shukla submitted a record of former MLA Uday Bhan Singh, who was disqualified after being convicted in a murder case. Singh represented Aurai constituency at Sant Ravi Das Nagar.

“This is my second application. I had submitted the first application on October 29 last year. Along with the application, I have also submitted the case details of MLA Uday Bhan Singh, the order after which he was disqualified, along with the Election Commission report,” said Shukla.

She added that she had also provided the Governor with a list of the 26 criminal cases pending against Tripathi. “The Governor has said he will look into the matter,” she said.
