“As we don’t have the infrastructure to carry out the recruitment process, we will need the help of the School Service Commission,” said Osman Gani, chairman, Madrasah Service Commission.
Even after a separate Madrasa Service Commission was formed, School Service Commission (SSC) was entrusted with the job of recruiting teachers for madrasas.
Last year, despite the existence of the Madrasa Education department, SSC took up this task. The chairman, however, did not elaborate on what sort of help will be taken from SSC.
On being asked whether the recruitment body has an office of its own, Gani said the recruitment process will be carried out from the Madrasah Education directorate office in Bikash Bhawan.
He added an examination will be conducted for over 600 vacancies in the first week of March. This comes after SSC had issued a notification last year for recruitment of 686 candidates in several posts in madrasas across the state.
The School Service Commission had conducted an exam for the remaining 9,353 vacancies on January 20 and is trying to publish the results by April this year.
Examination centres will be set up in those areas of the state where there is a considerable Muslim population such as Murshidabad and Malda, Gani added.
Some SSC officials claimed the decision to have a separate recruitment panel for madrasas and give them a minority institution status, is tantamount to doing away with the SC, ST, OBC and physically challenged categories.
