Maharashtra veterans claim 12 gold medals in Table Tennis championship

Pune, March 6 The youthful side of the veteran players was witnessed at the 15th National Veterans Table Tennis championship recently held in Jalandar.

Maharashtra players proved their mettle as they claimed 12 gold medals, eight silver medals and 19 bronze medals.

The players from Pune, who did the state proud at the championship include Manisha Bodas and Pappu Shelarkha who defeated KK Rai and Managala Saraf in 50+ mixed doubles.

In the 50+ women's category, Maharsahtra defeated Karnataka to claim a gold medal 3-1and in the 50+ men's category Maharastra pipped host Punjab to lift the crown 3-0.

Those who won silver medals included Manisha Bodas and Shobha Naidu in the 50+ women's doubles category.

Avinash Joshi however, lost in the finals of the 50+ men's singles to Ravi Vashistha of Delhi.

The tournament saw more than 550 players from all over India participating with full of energy and enthusiasm.
